Ceramics Week: API Helps Save Lives with Custom Engineered Ceramic Assemblies

API Technologies has re-engaged with a leader in medical device manufacturing by supplying ceramic assemblies for the next generation of pacemaker designs for their internal defibrillator program.  Through a solid development program and our previous experience with the medical device pioneer, API’s EIS group will support the program with their custom engineered solutions to be included in their devices.  The integrated planar housing assembly will be a crucial component in the overall design and these new pacemakers will save lives!  API is extremely proud of this development and will continue to keep pace with the industry and its advancements and look forward to being a key element in the future of medical applications.

API’s Custom Cabling Offer Frequencies Up to 50 GHz

API Technologies is now using the next generation of software and 3D printing technology to create custom cables with frequencies ranging from 5 GHz to 50 GHz.   By molding the cable around the fixture created in SOLIDWORKS, these cables can be constructed for any specifications.  Shapes not achievable on a CNC coax bending machine can now be created to meet your individual needs for use in the military, aerospace, high-end industrial, oil and gas and medical applications.

Technical Specifications:

  • VSWR of less than 1.5:1
  • Frequencies ranging from 5 GHz to 50 GHz
  • Insertion loss less than 1db below 50 GHz

API’s cabling capabilities also include a wide range of cable harnessing, flat ribbon cable and ribbon cable processing, lead wire preparation, component, wire, and assembly making, electro-mechanical assembly and more!

API Provides Film Caps for Commercial Aerospace Programs

API's Electromagnetic Integrated Solutions (EIS) group is excited to continue adding to our family of products for the largest film capacitors customer in API company history!  We have added 13 film capacitors part number configurations to our already extensive line and will support the strategic motor controls design for the Boeing 787 and Bombardier Q.  Our Polypropylene DC Link capacitors are compact and have a cost effective design that works with the common 10 kW system, making it adaptable to other platforms as well.  These applications are not new to API, but we are honored to be continually involved in providing specialty products to the commercial aerospace industry.
